Violet Buzzanca passed away peacefully at age 96 on October 18, 2025. God welcomed her home to heaven and joyfully reunited her with her beloved husband Louis and sister Pearl Murphy.
She was born in Brooklyn NY to Virgilio and Maria Santamaria (Italian immigrants). Violet graduated from the School of Industrial Arts in 1949 and pursued a career in sketching fashion designs. She eventually found her life’s work in her father’s photography studio. There she utilized her training and mastered her craft manually retouching photos with the airbrush as well as specializing in wedding & special event photography and enhancing portraits with oil paints.
She met her husband, Louis, and married on October 27, 1957. She was a devoted mother of three children: Joanna (husband Louie), Anthony (wife Joyce), and Valerie (partner Dave). She was the proud grandmother and was adored and loved by her grandchildren: Nicole (husband George), Michael (wife Emily), JulieAnn (partner Mitchell), Steven, Ryan (wife Jillian), Alexander (partner Alessandra) Bianca, Olivia, Jeffrey, and great granddaughters Hailey and Chelsey.
Violet touched many lives and inspired those in her profession. She will be missed by many. Her visitation will from 4:00-8:00PM Tuesday October 28th, at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad Street, Westfield, NJ. Violet's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM, Wednesday October 29, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 300 Central Ave., Mountainside, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, L.I., New York, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
