Vilma Regina Stanton passed away at home on Thursday February 26, 2015 at the age of 99. She was born in Hudson, NY to the late George and Julia Hersko. Vilma married her childhood sweetheart, the late Edward Stanton.

Vilma is one of six sisters, Julia Wolf, and the late Irene Esbrant, Margaret Ponick, Lilian Misura, and Eleanor Pillow-Gravelac. Their mother moved to Elizabeth, NJ where Vilma graduated High School.

In 1945 Vilma received the Army-Navy Production Award for Excellence in War Production for the Eastern Aircraft Division of

General Motors Plant in Linden, NJ.

Vilma went on to become the only woman, at the time, hired by Schering Plough, later to become Merck & Company, in the research and development department. She was treated with great respect while there. Vilma retired from Merck & Company and spent the rest of her life in Union, NJ.

Viewing will be at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, in Cranford, Friday March 6, 2015 from 7 to 9 PM. Interment will be from Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford, on Saturday March 7, 2015 at 9:00 AM. Go to grayfuneralhomes.com for on line condolences.
