Thomas Michael Morick, 92, died Tuesday February 2, 2016, at the Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park, NJ where he had been living since April, 2015. Tom was born October 8, 1923 in Rhodesdale, Ohio to Michael and Anna Morick. His family moved to Nanticoke, PA where Tom and his 4 siblings (Mary, Joe, Harry, and Betty) spent most of their childhood.
At the age of 18, Tom joined the army and was placed in an accelerated engineering program in the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP). When the program was cancelled due to lack of funding, Tom was assigned to "C" company 410th Infantry 103rd Division. He spent several years fighting with his division in France during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1946.
After the war, Tom attended Wilkes College, PA. He married his wife of 33 years, Betty Nerod and had two daughters. He and his family lived in Edison, NJ and Tom spent most of his professional career as a Production Planner for Revlon, Inc. Tom and Betty were active members of Evangel Church in Scotch Plains, NJ where Tom also served as a deacon for several years.
Sadly his wife Betty predeceased him in 1986. Several years later he retired and moved to Lake Wallenpaupack, PA. Tom returned to NJ in 2008 to be closer to his family.
Tom was an avid reader, who also loved the woods and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons. He was blessed with many wonderful friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his two daughters and their families: Joan Morick Brinton, her husband John and son John Tyler, and Gail Morick Van Beveren, her husband Mark and their son Douglas.
Visitation and life celebration will be on Friday February 5, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield. Funeral services will be 10 am Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth.
