Thelma J. (Palmquist) Mackay

Thelma J. MacKay, age 97, died on Thursday, May 12 th , 2016 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch
Plains, NJ, after a long life. She was born Thelma Johanna Palmquist on October 11, 1918 to Gustave
and Johanna Palmquist at 735 Avenue Y in Brooklyn, NY.

Thelma attended New York City public schools and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. She
later attended secretarial school and Brooklyn College. After several secretarial positions for
Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, NYC Transit Authority and the Protestant Council she was
accepted for a position with the NYC Board of Education from which she eventually retired after 25+
years of employment.

She was married and divorced from Edward Kenneth MacKay, now deceased. She is survived by her two
daughters, Elizabeth Ann MacKay and Katherine Ellen MacKay and four grandchildren, Alison, Janine,
Ryan and Justin.

Funeral arrangements have been made with Gray Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15 th . Viewing will be
from 2:00pm to 4:00pm followed by funeral services at 4:00pm. Gray's Funeral Home is located at 318
East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ, 07090 (telephone number 908-233- 0143).
