Susan J. Chew R.N., age 56, of Watchung, died in her home on Sunday, January 15, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 13, 1949 in Kearny, NJ to Loretta and William Elliott.
A loving wife and devoted nurse, Susan spent her life in service to those who needed her care. Her career as a nurse began at age 18. She graduated from Trenton State College with a BS in Nursing and then continued her education at Kean University in Union and obtained a Masters in Nursing. She dedicated much of her life practicing her trade and pursuing its greater knowledge.
She was a caring, giving, hard working individual who adored her family and friends as much as she adored her life's work. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her wise advise and her love of nursing.
Susan is survived by her husband, Maurice, their three children, Kiera, Owen and Christopher, her mother, Loretta Elliott, her brothers Bobby, Larry and Daren Elliott, and her sister Diane Eccles. Her father William Elliott is deceased.
Funeral services for Susan Chew, R.N. will be held at 10 am on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the Parish Community of St. Helen, 1600 Rahway Ave., Westfield, NJ. Friends and family are welcome at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
In lieu of flowers and cards, the family has requested that donations be made in Susans memory to the American Cancer Society.
