Susan Arasin Ishiyama, 63, of Cranford passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 8th, 2018 surrounded in love by her family and friends. She was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 9th, 1955, beloved daughter of Peter and Eleanor Arasin.
Susan was married to Toru on September 15th, 1979. She enjoyed 39 years fulfilling her life-long dream of being a devoted wife and loving mother to her two beautiful daughters. She was a dedicated employee of Cranford Extended Care for 25 years where she cared for the elderly. Susan was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she faithfully served the Lord with great joy. She loved donating her time and possessions to those in need. She was an avid collector of vintage clothing and enjoyed treasure hunting with her family and friends. A dog lover, she was particularly fond of basset hounds and loved spending time with her dogs. She often found fun and comfort in the television of her youth - shows like Dark Shadows, Leave It to Beaver and the Andy Griffith Show. She loved taking road trips to Cape May, camping, Victorian home tours, and beautiful sunsets. Susan is preceded in death by her brother Matthew, her sister Peggy, and her parents Peter and Eleanor. She is survived by her husband Toru, her daughters Dana (Charles Vickers) and Collette (Eric Walker). She also leaves behind her siblings Joseph Arasin of Beecher, Illinois, Maureen Leithner (Philip) of Fanwood NJ, and Donna Arasin (James Price) of Portland, OR, and nieces and nephew Chelsea, Anne, Laura, and William.
Susan's Life Celebration will be held on Friday, November 16th from 5-8PM at Gray Memorial Funeral Home in Cranford, NJ. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 17th, at 11 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Cranford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
