Ruth C. Tate, 88, passed away Saturday, October 19th at home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Jamestown, New York, she moved to Westfield in the early 1950s. She began selling real estate in 1957 at The Johnson Agency in Westfield, later moving to Peterson-Ringle Realty in Scotch Plains. She joined Schlott Realtors in the late 1980s which became Coldwell Banker in 1991. She was the number one Realtor in the Westfield area for over 25 years. Ruth was an accomplished golfer, and a long time member of the Plainfield Country Club. She was pre-deceased by her husband Leon in 1996 and is survived by her daughter, Pamela Doerner of Venice, Florida, her son Charles of New York City, and her sister Betty Hinderer of Asheville, New York. Viewing and life celebration will be at Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield, Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9.
