Rose Nee Borrelli Restivo

Rose was born to Louis and Margaret Borrelli in Brooklyn, NY on October 14, 1926. The third of four siblings, elder sister Eleanor, brother Vito and later younger brother Louis. Upon graduation from Eastern District HS in Williamsburg, Brooklyn she began a clerical career at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.
As fate would have it, her close friend and coworker Marie Restivo, later (Silvestri) invited her to a Welcome Home party for her brother Tony just returning from the War in Europe. Rose and Tony married in February 1948 and had three children, Leonard, Marietta and Louis.
Rose spent most of the early years as a full-time homemaker and stay at home mom. She enjoyed the simplest things in life such as taking care of the family and entertaining friends. The dinner table was always the center of it all.
Later in life, Tony and Rose got into boating and were members of the Excelsior Yacht Club. Some vacations even involved sailing up the Hudson River to "far away" ports in New York State.
When the kids were older, she returned to work at the Brooklyn Veterans Hospital where she stayed until retirement.
Next was relocation to Venice, Florida, where they lived a simpler lifestyle enjoying the good weather and good friends. Rose relocated to Cranford NJ in 2020 and lived with daughter Marietta her husband Bill until her passing on January 26, 2022.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Tony in 2003 and tragically, son Louis in 2020 .
She is survived by eldest son Leonard (AnnMarie) granddaughters Andrea and Laura (Matt Riley) great grandchildren Henry Riley and Addison Riley. Daughter Marietta Horne (Bill), grandson William.
And grandson Andrew (son of Louis).
Rose's visitation will be on Sunday January 30th from 2:00-6:00PM at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave. Cranford, NJ. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10AM Monday January 31, 2022 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 40 Alden Street, Cranford, NJ. Interment will follow in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
