Rosario Rivera Sosa de Almodóvar, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 5th, 2020 at Cranford Rehab and Nursing Center.
Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Rosario married her late husband Juan Almodóvar on September 27th 1943. Together, they moved to New York City to raise their family, then retired to Isabela, Puerto Rico. Rosario was an active member of her church, frequently rescued animals in her neighborhood, and loved to socialize. She and her husband were heavily involved in Veteran Affairs, partaking in the daily events and special honors bestowed to the veterans in Puerto Rico. Her family will always remember her for the wonderful food she cooked, parties she threw, and colorful stories she told. Above all else, she had a special place in her heart for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Carmen Manto and will be lovingly remembered by her son, Robert Almodóvar and his wife Betsy; son-in-law Umberto Manto; grandchildren Elizabeth Marty-Dalli, Nelson Marty, Maria Van Teeckelenburgh, Tony Almodóvar, and Christina Ferguson; and great grandchildren Alexandra Dalli, Samantha Dalli, Victoria Dalli, Jordan Dillon, Ellie Dillon, Wesley Ferguson, Evelyn Ferguson, Sophia Buonaquista and Kaia Van Teeckelenburgh.
There will not be a traditional memorial service at this time due to current circumstances. However, there will be a Celebration of Life Memorial in the future.
