Robert C. Bresenhan Sr.
Cranford resident, loving husband, father and grandfather

Robert C. Bresenhan Sr., 83, of Cranford, NJ and Charleston SC, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ.

Born in Clearco, WV, raised in Baltimore, MD, where he met his wife Frances (nee Chewning), he and Frances raised their family in Cranford, NJ. A graduate of Baltimore City College, he attended Johns Hopkins University. Bob was proud to be an American and served his country faithfully in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Military Intelligence Corps. He completed basic training in Ft. Jackson, SC and served at Ft. Holabird, Baltimore, MD.

Prior to his retirement, Bob was a former Director of Sales, Training and Development at CSX Sea-Land Intermodal Services for more than 40 years. Bob and his family relocated to Cranford, NJ in 1967 from Baltimore, MD when he was a Sales Executive with the Western-Maryland Railroad. Bob and Fran spent their retirement years between their homes in Cranford, NJ and Charleston, SC.

He loved traveling, country and bluegrass music, but mostly spending time with his family, especially his 5 grandchildren. A pure gentleman, adored by many, he lived every day passing worldly knowledge on to his friends, 4 children and 5 grandchildren.

Bob was a long time member of the Cranford United Methodist Church and the Cranford Democratic Club. He was also a member of the Downtown Athletic Club-NYC.

Son of the late Timothy and Elizabeth Mae (nee Holliday) Bresenhan, Robert was predeceased by his brother Harold Lloyd Bresenhan and a daughter Renee Carroll Bresenhan. He is survived by his wife of 62 loving years, Frances (nee Chewning) Bresenhan; his children Robert C. Bresenhan, Jr. of Rahway, NJ and his husband Rolando B. Ceniza, Rebecca L. Scotti of Cranford, NJ and her husband Michael, and Robin B. Hargett of Charleston, SC. and her husband Andrew; his 5 grandchildren, Brianna L., Brooke E. and Michael T. Scotti, and Griffin D. and Kelsey R. Hargett; and his niece and nephew Rhonda K. and Timothy M. Bresenhan of Glen Burnie, MD.

Robert had a strong faith and knows his Lord and has given his loved ones the gift of faith in Jesus Christ.

On Tuesday May 15, 2018 a small family gathering was held at Gray's Funeral Home in Westfield, NJ. to say a final goodbye to Robert. Robert's body was cremated upon his request.
