Neil W. Daly passed peacefully in his Cranford home on Saturday, August 26, 2023, after a long battle with Lymphoma. He was 80 years old.
Growing up, Neil and his family resided in Union, NJ before moving to Cranford. He participated in football and baseball and continued to play softball into his adult years. He shared his love of sports with his two sons, Robert and Michael, often shooting hoops with them in the driveway or sitting down together to watch a Giants game. Since he was a young child, Neil enjoyed his summers in Seaside Park, swimming, boating and fishing in the Barneget Bay.
Neil worked for many years fixing printing presses before retiring to his second career as a custodian with Cranford public schools. Known affectionately as Mr. Neil, he was beloved by staff and students alike, always lending a hand and sharing a smile.
Neil was your go to guy anytime you had a question about how things work or how to “fix it.” He will forever be remembered for his knowledge of mechanics, especially when it came to tinkering with his ‘65 Corvette or working on a boat at his family’s summer home down the shore. He loved to talk cars, quiz you on WWII history facts, and share his many stories of “back in the day.”
Neil is survived by his loving son, Michael, his wife, Megan, and his grandson, William; his devoted sister, Patricia Malazdra, and her husband, John; his nephews, Kevin and Christopher, his wife, Heather, and great-nephew, CJ.
