Michael Templeton passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025.
Mike was born on January 1, 1964 to his parents Arthur and Lillian Templeton. He was raised in Glen Ridge, New Jersey alongside his older sister Patty and younger brother Steven. As a child, Mike was a fearless adventurer who loved diving off the high dive and riding go carts alongside neighbors that would later become lifelong friends. Some of his fondest childhood memories included building meticulous pinewood derby cars and rebuilding his Firebird with his dad.
Mike graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied Printing Management. His hard work and tenacity fueled a fruitful tenure at Graytor Printing and Cultech. His professional career also yielded meaningful friendships that he cherished throughout his life.
Mike met the love of his life, Leanne, in Manasquan, New Jersey. They were married on September 24, 1994 and were blessed with three children: Amelia, Audrey, and Jack. As a parent, Mike was known for being thoughtful and a great listener. He found joy in the quality time he dedicated to each of his children and their unique pursuits. His children knew him as a steady presence, offering gentle and consistent support in all their endeavors.
In his free time, Mike found great joy in spending time outdoors. If he wasn’t working on his perfectly manicured landscaping, he could be found snowboarding, sailing, or surfing. His family loved sharing his passion for sailing with many evenings spent listening to music on the bay. During the off-season, he found camaraderie in watching a vibrant community of sailing channels on YouTube. He loved the ocean and shared this enthusiasm with his family through memorable trips back to Manasquan- where it all began- and Ocean City, Maryland. He shared his love of the sea through his expertly steamed crabs, a skill honed over numerous visits to Ocean City. His famous crab dinners were enjoyed during family gatherings on the deck, soundtracked by his carefully-curated Spotify playlist.
Mike will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. He now sails free on the other side of the sunset.
Remembering Mike, a lifelong fan of the New Jersey Devils, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to KidneyCAN.org or DevilsYouthFoundation.org.
