Michael J Heuer

Michael Joseph Heuer of Cranford, NJ, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on the morning of December 2, 2018 after a 16 month battle with Glioblastoma. He was 36 years old.

Michael was born on December 3, 1981 in Elizabeth, NJ and grew up in Cranford, NJ. After graduating from Cranford High School in 2000, he worked for seven years doing what he loved as a mechanic. His next venture brought him to Lancaster, PA in 2008 where he worked for Zook's Molasses Co. as a Shift Supervisor.

In 2011, Michael took on his favorite and proudest role when his daughter, Teagan Elaine, was born on November 5th. Becoming a father was a defining moment in his life. Michael loved his family and life long friends from school deeply.

Michael was a 15 year member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks belonging to Cranford Lodge 2006. Before moving to Lancaster County he had served three years as an officer of the Lodge. Michael was Scout Master of the Lodge's Special Needs Boy Scout Troop for two years. Scouting was a special part of his growing up, he was very glad to have had the chance to pass forward his love of scouting to the Lodge Troop scouts. He was also an active member of the Cranford Elks Motorcycle Club, riding to raise funds for charity in support of children and those with special needs. Motorcycle is riding, 4-wheeling his big trucks, camping and hunting were his favorite forms of recreation and relaxation.

After his third surgery he returned to New Jersey to reside in Cranford to reside with his father. During his 16 month illness he maintained a positive outlook, hoping to recover and resume life with his family and friends.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Teagan, his father, Joseph P. Heuer lll, his mother, Carolyn D. Heuer, brother, David K. Heuer, sister in law, Kimberly Cable Heuer, sister, Paige C. Heuer, brother in law to be, David A. Sourbeer, a niece, Olivia Holland, and two nephews, Joseph and Seamus Heuer.

Michael's private visitation and private funeral services are under the direction of Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford, NJ.
