Mercedes B. Gorecki

January 12, 1919 — September 19, 2013

Mercedes Gorecki- 94 yrs old, born in Mexico on Jan 12, 1919, to Alexander and Mercedes Hidell. A devoted loving wife and companion to Casmir L. Gorecki for over 50 yrs and a former resident of Scotch Plains for 68 years. She was generous with her love and steadfast support to her growing family and friends throughout her years. Mercedes is survived by her younger loving brother John Hidel and younger sister Alice Ridell and her west coast family of nieces, nephews and family members, her loving daughter Ann Dwyer, three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hoffman, Glenn and Allison Dwyer and four great grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Czyborra, Courtney and Andrew Hoffman. She was a remarkable woman, a wonderful cook , she enjoyed her home and providing and doing for her family and friends. A brave woman to leave her west coast roots and create a life with her husband in the east, she has left her mark on all she has loved and known. She will be greatly missed. Her favored quote during tough times, "and this too shall pass." Thank you Nan for all that you have done. Visitation will be on Wednesday September 25, 2013 from 10 am until service time and life celebration at 11am at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery.
