Mercedes Lopez "Mer" Fol

Mercedes L. Fol (nee Lopez) of Westfield, passed away on July 30, 2015.
Mercedes' Life Celebration and visitation will be Tuesday August 4th, from 6:00-8:00PM at Gray Funeral Directors, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield, where family and friends may gather at 12 Noon for her funeral service on Wednesday August 5, 2015. Entombment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
Born in 1925 in Newark, New Jersey, she lived her long life in the state. She married Joseph Fol in 1947, soon after he returned from service in North Africa, Italy, and France in World War II. They enjoyed 61 happy years until she lost him in 2008. She is survived by their daughters Mercedes Fol-Okamoto and Inez Fol, son-in-law Koshi Okamoto, and granddaughter Katharine S. Okamoto, and by her sister Hortensia Ortiz and brother-in-law Marcellino Ortiz. Her brother Frank Lopez predeceased her. She is survived by her dear sister-in-laws Dolores Lopez and Josephine Fol, beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. The daughter of immigrants from Galicia, Spain, her parents were Gloria Porto Quiroga and Franciso Lopez Sanchez, who hailed from near Lugo. She loved to travel with Joe to Spring Lake, NJ, to the American West, and to visit relatives in Spain. She will be dearly missed.
