Martha Hindman White
Martha H. White (Betty) formerly of Westfield, died peacefully on July 29, 2016 at Runnells Specialized Hospital.
A memorial service will take place at the First United Methodist Church of Westfield on Sept 17, at 11 AM. Interment will be private in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa, Betty was a long-time resident of Westfield prior to moving to Mountainside and then to Berkley Heights.
She attended Mount Holyoke College and graduated from Western College for Women, in Oxford, Ohio majoring in Fine Arts. She was employed by the Joseph Horne Company in Pittsburgh in the corporate Visual Display department. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Ward Home in Pittsburgh for many years.
Upon relocating to Westfield, she was a full time Mom and raised three children. She was a member of the First United Methodist church in Westfield for over 50 years. Her passions were her children, grandchildren, gardening, bridge and family vacations on Long Beach Island.
Betty is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Rollin. Her three children include: Rollin Thomas White III (Evelyn White), James Stuart White (Patricia White), Barbara White Ellsworth (Richard Ellsworth); six grandchildren Carolyn White Bartolick (Frank Bartolick), Rollin Thomas White IV, John James Pearson (Amanda Pearson), James Stuart White Jr., Jeffrey Thomas Pearson and Laura Lee White and a great granddaughter: Piper James Pearson. She is also survived by Suzann Hindman, John Hindman, Dr. W. Timothy Kable and John Kable.
