Lucille B. Finter

Lucille B. Finter, 88, of Westfield, NJ, passed peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23 in the Westfield Presbyterian Church chapel at 140 Mountain Avenue in Westfield, NJ.
Mrs. Finter was an enthusiastic birder, a lover of nature, a passionate reader and a devoted and deeply loved wife, mother and friend.
Born in Westfield, NJ, on December 16, 1930, to Byron D. Stuart and his wife Agnes (Larson) Stuart, Lucille graduated from Westfield High School in 1948 and Wells College in Aurora, NY, in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
Mrs. Finter then worked for Prudential in the actuarial department before marrying Donald Finter in 1955.
After getting married, Lucille moved to Alexandria, Virginia, then briefly to Cheshire, Connecticut before returning to Westfield in 1961 where she lived for the rest of her life.
A lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield, NJ, she was also a dedicated volunteer logging nearly 2,000 hours of public service for Contact We Care, a psychological help organization.
An active gardener, Lucille was a longtime member of the Westfield Garden Club and an accomplished knitter creating many colorful blankets and garments over the years.
Mrs. Finter also enjoyed playing tennis and paddle tennis at the Westfield Tennis Club.
Lucille is survived by sons Scott Finter and his wife Suzanne Bender-Finter, and Steven Finter and his partner P.J. Boragine.
