Liliane Sommer Galt

Liliane S. Galt, 85, of Westfield, NJ died on Tuesday, March 11th, following complications from surgery. Born August 1928 in Bern, Switzerland, she was a teacher at the Westfield Day Care Center for many years. Liliane was also a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Liliane grew up and attended college in Switzerland. Liliane later lived with her husband Stewart and family in Colorado, Arizona, Cuba, Wisconsin, Illinois, Georgia and New Jersey. In her retirement, she traveled to the former Yugoslavia, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Costa Rica, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. Liliane loved travel, gardening, skiing, camping, hiking, playing cards and the piano. Liliane is survived by her husband Stewart, sons Stephan and his wife Carol, Fritz and his wife Jennifer, James and his wife YuHsing, and grandchildren Emma, Adam, Phoebe, Dylan and Gwendolyn. A Memorial Service is planned in the chapel at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield on March 21st, 2014 at 11:30 am.
