Key J. Kahng, born February 18, 1940 in Daegu, South Korea. He passed away late Saturday June 13, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sook Young Kahng (Lee), his son, Henry L. Kahng, his daughter, Grace L. Rice, and four grandchildren Naomi, Samuel, Isaiah, and Joshua. Also surviving are three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a younger sister and brother.
Mr. Kahng was a long time resident of Basking Ridge, NJ and more recently Bernardsville, NJ. He also resided in Virginia for many years in the areas near Falls Church.
Key graduated from Kemyung University in Daegu. He then served as a Captain in the S. Korean Marine Corps before returning to his Alma Mater to teach military science and work as an assistant to the University President.
An avid golfer and tennis player he was most recently recognized for his meritorious involvement with the World Peace Corps Mission as a United Nations NGO ambassador.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19 at 12pm in the Sanctuary of Cranford Alliance Church located at 7 Cherry St., Cranford, NJ. People are welcome to arrive starting at 11:30am to visit with the family. Private graveside committal ceremony will be at Fairview Cemetery located at 1100 E. Broad St., Westfield, NJ.
