Kenneth Carleton Wooster. July 31, 1933-September 8, 2020
He served his Lord, He served his Family, He Served his Friends, He served his Country.
On September 8, 2020, on his beloved wife Theresa's birthday, Kenneth Carleton Wooster of Westfield, NJ left his life here on earth to enter into eternal life. His lifelong deep and abiding faith insures that he was welcomed to live and dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Born at home on July 31, 1933 in Dracut Massachusetts to James and Vivian Wooster, Kenneth left behind his wife Theresa Wooster (Cepulinski), two daughters Linda Johnson along with her husband Ben, Sandra Rust along with her husband Bruce, two grandchildren Elliott Johnson along with his wife Kalinna (Rodriguez), and Allison Johnson along with her fiancé Chris Hernandez, two step-grandchildren, Jeffery Rust and Judith Rust, and two great grandchildren, Helena and Theodore Johnson.
Additionally, Ken is survived by his brother Raymond Wooster and his sister Carolyn Farrar, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was sadly predeceased by his brother James Wooster, brother Joseph Wooster, and brother Tyler Wooster.
Ken served in the United States Army in Korea from 1953-1956 and continued to honor all service members and veterans throughout his life, attending as many parades and ceremonies as possible, and proudly displaying the American flag by his front door.
Ken's work in sales started at an early age selling potholders made by his mother door to door! His family also remembers a story about him working at a counter in a department store selling peanuts. In the early 1960's Ken started his own broom, mop and household cleaning business, Carleton Products. Numerous jobs followed, but sales was his forte, leading to door to door sales with the Fuller Brush Company and eventually to a career in sales and marketing with Watkins Products, The W. T. Rawleigh Company, and eventually the Fuller Brush Company once again. Ken's jobs took him to Williamsville, NY, Winona Minnesota, Westfield NJ, Freeport, Illinois, Dallas Texas, and eventually back to Westfield, NJ, where he resided for over 30 years. The consummate salesman, Ken encouraged young people in sales. Often to his wife's dismay, he bought from every young person who showed up at the door selling something!
Service to others was a way of life for Ken, and included volunteering with the Salvation Army, serving as president of Y's Men's Club of Westfield, fundraising for the American Cancer Society, and involvement in numerous other civic organizations. Ken was always ready to step up to the plate.
Ken's early life in the Nazarene Church led to a lifelong church involvement, eventually leading to the First Baptist Church of Westfield, NJ. Ken served on many boards throughout his long church membership. He became a lay minister and a lifelong evangelist of his faith. No person came to church without being greeted by Ken. He maintained a space in his home for his daily bible reading, prayers, and devotions.
Ken's hobbies included a lifelong passion for golf, collecting antiques, watching sports, going for rides and walks with his wife, keeping in touch with old friends, and dining out, especially at the Westfield Diner and the Bagel Chateau in Westfield.
Ken will be remembered by all for his engaging and outgoing personality. He loved telling jokes and talking to anyone he met. He had a way of making everyone feel comfortable.
If you had the good fortune to know Ken you have never had a better friend. His loyalty and devotion to his friends was enormous, and he was always there to lend a hand, to listen, to support. That devotion paled to his devotion to his family. This can be best said in the words of his grandchildren, who wrote these words.

You served your country.

You served your God.
Your example of friendship and love is so much a part of who I am. Your knowledge of even the most minute details inspired me to learn as much as I could.
Most importantly, your commitment to Christ is why I am in Christ myself. You gave me spiritual guidance while singing hymns, reading scripture and providing council to ANYONE who needed it. This testimony is what has influenced me the most.
I am sad that you are no longer with us here. And yet, the faith that your instilled in me brings me the true hope that one day we will see you again.
As it has been said many times and in many ways: this is only the beginning of the beginning.
I love you grandpa. See you in the Resurrection."

"How do you honor a man that lived the most honorable life? My grandfather served the Lord through 87 years. His life is truly a legacy. A Korean War veteran, married to the love of his life for 64 years with 2 children, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Grandpa made me who I am today. My faith, character and integrity is because of you. Always there for guidance with the utmost patience and love. Every memory with you is filled with pure happiness. It saddens me deeply that you will not be at my and Chris's wedding. But you saw us get engaged and our first home and you were so happy. I pray to have a marriage like yours and to build the life that you and Grammie had together. You could build a bridge with any person no matter age, color, size or shaped. You were so deeply loved. My heart hurts so much that you are not with us anymore but I know that you are with Jesus. And I know He smiled when he saw his steadfast servant who served the Lord with all his heart. Till we meet again Grandpa. I love you."
Ken's faith, honor and integrity served him well on this earth, and because of this his friends and family know it is well with his soul. He leaves us a deep cup of faith and love and hope and wisdom and laughter. Drink when you are thirsty.
