Kalliroe "Ero" Savorgiannakis, of Westfield, passed away on her 89th birthday, March 21, 2017 in Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ, after a brief illness. Born in St. Nicholas, Sparta, Greece, to the late Vasilios and Androniki Vosinakis, Ero was the beloved wife of the late John Savorgiannakis, who was a native of Crete. They were married in 1955 and lived in Athens for many years with their three children. Ero was a seamstress and taught her craft to local students. She and her husband and children emigrated to America, arriving in Brooklyn, NY on November 21, 1966. The following year the family moved to Garwood, NJ, where her husband John was a lithographer with Creative Color Lithographers for many years. Ero and her family have been long time members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield. She was active with the Ladies Philoptochos, and was a member of the church choir for more than 30 years. Aside from her love of sewing, Ero enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to the family's summer home in Crete. She also loved to cook for her family, and to dance. Ero was devoted to her family, and was always concerned about the well being of her loved ones. She is survived by her three children: daughter: Effie Kambourakis and her husband Mike of Montville, NJ, son: Michael Savorgiannakis and his wife Marianne of Westfield, NJ, daughter: Doniki Ibrahim and her husband Robert of Whitehouse Station, NJ, 7 grandchildren: Elias, Christopher, Jonathan, Karlie Rose, Nicholas, Kassandra, Thomas, and her brother: George Vosinakis and his wife Koula of Old Bridge, NJ. Besides her late husband John, Ero was preceded in death by her brother Alex, a sister Ismini, and another brother Peter. Her visitation will be from 4:00-9:00PM Thursday March 23rd at Gray Funeral Directors, 318 E. Broad Street, Westfield, NJ, where the Trisaigon prayer service will begin at 8PM Thursday. Ero's funeral service will begin at 1:30PM Friday March 24, 2017 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Westfield. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. The repast will begin at 4:00PM at The Westwood, 438 North Avenue, Garwood, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to a Greek Orthodox Church of one's choice.
