John Alec Boughtwood, age 79, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday August 22nd, 2016. Visitation and life celebration is on Friday August 26th at the Gray Funeral Home (908-233-0143), 318 E. Broad Street, Westfield, N.J. from 4 to 8 p.m. Go to grayfuneralhomes.com for on line condolences.
A native of the United Kingdom, John was born in Billericay, Essex, in 1937 and was a veteran of the Royal Air Force. John and family moved to the United States in 1977 as part of a 40 plus year career in the reinsurance industry. Prior to his retirement in 2001, he was employed by Aon Benfield in New York City.
John was a great fan of jazz and classical music. He also loved sport (especially the New York Yankees) and had a life-long love of travel. He was blessed to have made many good friends on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.
Mr. Boughtwood is survived by a sister Margaret of Winchester, United Kingdom; a son, Timothy and fiancee Lesley of Long Branch, N.J. ; a son David and daughter-in-law Paula of East Greenbush, N.Y. and a daughter Kathryn of North Plainfield, N.J.; as well as four loving grandchildren Anna, Christopher, Ethan and Nicholas.
