Joan Price Geer Helping other people, delighting in being a "Grand Ma," the success of the company she cofounded, and participating in our political world – all these things decorated her life. Joan Geer, 82, a resident of Fanwood for more than 50 years, passed away from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on Saturday March 2, 2013, at JFK Haven Hospice, Edison, surrounded by her loving family. Joan's family kindly welcomes you to her Life Celebration from 6:00-9:00PM Tuesday March 5th, at Gray Funeral Directors, 318 E. Broad St. Westfield (go to www.grayfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences). Graveside services will be held at 12Noon, Wednesday March 6th, in Gethsemane Cemetery, in Reading, PA. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Geer, and is survived by son: David A. Geer and his wife Marianne of Cranbury, daughter: Patricia Brooks of Toms River, four grandchildren: Jeffrey, Leslie, Julia, and Stephanie. She was known as "Grandma" to her grandchildren, and to several other young people living in her neighborhood in Fanwood. She was also a long time aide to former State Senate President John Lynch. She co-founded Creative Ink., a political public relations and advertising firm in Scotch Plains. The company is primarily active in Middlesex County. She particularly enjoyed her summer weeks at the beach house in Lavalette, where she hosted family, friends, and friends of friends, many of whom she had not known. The family appreciates memorial contributions in Joan's memory to the Fanwood Rescue Squad or the Fanwood Fire Company.
