Jean S. Gallagher

Jean Marie Stewart Gallagher, 94, of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away on April 6, 2017 at her home in the Davis Health Care Community. She formerly resided in Mountainside and Westfield, New Jersey.
Jean was born on December 3, 1922 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Girls' High in Philadelphia and attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA. In 1942 Jean married Robert Hillegass Gallagher.
They moved to Mountainside in 1966. Jean remained there until 2011, when she moved to Sunrise Senior Living in Westfield. In 2014, she moved to Wilmington, NC to be close to her daughter.
Jean volunteered for many years at the Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside. Initially she worked in the classrooms and then in the Pharmacy Department, where she kept the pharmaceutical records. She played Bridge and was a member of the PEO Sisterhood chapter U in Westfield.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Robert. She is survived by her two children, Robert H Gallagher of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Nancy G Heide of Hampstead, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Jean's visitation will begin at 9:30AM Thursday April 20, 2017 at Gray Funeral Directors, 318 E. Broad St., Westfield, where her funeral service will follow at 11:00AM.
