Janet Randall passed away on May 17 2020 from pneumonia caused by Covid 19 at the age of 100. Born Janet Murray in Leith, Scotland, she moved to London, England where she lived through the Blitz and met her husband Ronald. She and her husband emigrated to the United States in 1951 where they settled first in Chicago. They moved to Cranford, New Jersey in about 1957. They had five children: Alison, Michael, Douglas, Neil, and Jane. She had many jobs during her lifetime. After arriving in New Jersey, she worked for many years at an answering service in Westfield. She also worked for several years as a receptionist in a doctor's office in Westfield, and as a salesperson, in a sewing shop in Garwood, and in a bakery in Westfield. Later in life, she would continue to work for several years in the Jumble Store in Cranford. She was passionate reader, especially of history and historical fiction involving Scotland. Books played an important role in her life right up to the time of her death. She always maintained a keen interest in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply. She was a devoted parishioner of Trinity Church in Cranford, even after moving into the Chelsea Assisted Living Residence in Fanwood in 2017. She is survived by her daughters Alison and Jane, her son Michael, five grandchildren, Ian, Kyle, Laura, Peter, and Emma, and two great grandchildren, Maria and Theo.
