Helen D. Schulz

Helen D. Schulz of Whiting, NJ, died on Christmas morning, December 25, 2013 in Toms River, NJ. Born to George and Freda Schulz in Bayonne, NJ, on November 5, 1923, Helen moved to Westfield at the age of 2, and lived in the family home on Hazel Avenue for the next 77 years. She had been a member of the Presbyterian Church in Westfield for over 50 years. She moved to Crestwood Manor, Whiting in 2002, and made many friends in her years there. After graduating from Westfield High School in the class of 1939, she completed studies at the Berkeley School in East Orange in 1941, and began work at the accounting firm Haskins and Sells in 1942. During her 42 years with the firm she worked in the Newark and Morristown offices, retiring in 1984, from Deloitte & Touche's Morristown office. Proud of her business acumen, Helen balanced her checkbook to the penny, and at Crestwood knew the names of all that she passed in the hallways. She recalled many details of her travel experiences, and always urged to travel while you can. She was predeceased by her parents, and her sister Marion G. Wyckoff, who died in 1996. She is survived by cousins, including Leonard, John and Richard Ahlfeld. A graveside service and interment will begin at 11AM, Saturday, December 28, 2013. Arrangements by Gray Funeral Directors, Westfield. True to her attention to detail, she had many years before had the marker installed on the family plot, needing only the final date entered.
