Helen T. Martin

Helen T. Martin was born in Newark, NJ on December 20, 1918 and passed on August 14, 2022 at the age of 103 years young. She moved to Westfield, NJ in 1923 where she eventually settled with her daughter Joan. She graduated from Westfield High School and went on to Virginia to attend girls finishing school, where she graduated with a degree in business.

Helen notably worked at the Bank of New York where she met her husband John
Martin, they married in 1942 and had 4 children. Helen worked in various fields, most recently working for the United Methodist Church in Westfield, N.J.

She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, reading and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. Helen had a wonderful sense of humor and not once in her life, no matter what life dealt her, she never complained and was always grateful for what she had. Helen was the most caring, wonderful woman ever to walk this earth. Her presence will be missed at all future occasions and she will always be memorialized.

Helen is predeceased by her husband John Martin, her son David Martin, son John Martin (Jack), her daughter Joan Martin-Hurford, and her brother Robert Harvey Tichenor, Sr..

Helen is survived by her son Richard and his wife Virginia Martin, her daughters in-law Cynthia Jernstedt and husband Lawrence, Lailani Serrecchio, three Grandchildren Glen Martin and Wife Tiffany, David Martin and wife Lori, Leonard Jernstedt and Wife Jessica and four great-grandchildren.
