Harriette M. Waltner

It is with profound sadness that we share with you that Harriette Waltner passed away on Sunday, September 6 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Harriette had a long and impeccable career at Rutgers University NJ Medical School. Initially, she was part of the Student Affairs team at NJMS, but in the 1970's she was recruited into the Dean's Office and stayed there for the remainder of her career, until her first retirement in 2006. A few years later, Harriette returned to the NJMS Dean's Office to serve as Project Manager for the Vice Dean and continued in that role for another ten years. Harriette will be profoundly missed by her many colleagues at NJMS and she will be remembered as a trusted administrator, advisor and confidant for over 40 years.

Harriette was the proud mother of Edie and Dillon, and the most loving, proud grandmother of Donald and Emma Cusmano, and Veronika Waltner. She was predeceased by her husband, Marion, who passed away in 1979, and her subsequent life partner, Kathy Chuffo, who passed away in 2002.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Gray Funeral Home, Westfield. Funeral service to be 11 am Friday at the Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Chapel
