Harry's boyhood was spent in Elizabeth. In high school, he was a pole-vaulter often expressing the danger of using bamboo poles to impress his soon to be wife, whose loving marriage lasting more than 65 years. Harry, Pat and the family moved to Roselle and then Westfield. During World War II, Harry joined the Army Air Force and was a bombardier being discharged in October 19, 1945 as 2nd Lieutenant. Returning from the service, Harry went to night school and earned a degree in Chemistry from Seton Hall University. During that period, Harry sometimes worked three jobs during the day to make ends meet. Harry had a very distinguished career with International Fragrances and Flavors, rising from chemist to Assistant Plant Superintendent iin 1963, to General Manager in 1967, then to Vice President of production and, finally, to Corporate Vice President, one of the top executives in the firm. In that capacity, Harry managed worldwide manufacturing, Engineering and Purchasing. Dad was an avid golfer. After retirement, Mom and Dad traveled between residences in Pennsylvania and Florida and played golf at Lords Valley CC and JDM (now Ballen Isles), respectively. Harry attended some celebrity golf outings. One was the Dinah Shore Classic playing golf with Robert Stack of Elliott Ness fame. We will miss Dad for his personality, intellect and love.
