Giuseppe Chirichella, 86, of Cranford, died suddenly, while asleep on Sunday December 18, 2016 at his residence. Born in the small village of Monte San Giacomo, Salerno, in the Campagna region of Italy, Peppe as he was known, came to the US in 1966, celebrating 50 years in America, of which he was a proud citizen. Having lived in East Rutherford and Hoboken, he moved to Cranford 30 years ago. He was retired from the Public Works Department for the City of Hoboken. An avid gardener, Joe as he was known here in America, spent his summer days at the Cranford Pool. He was a devoted fan of the Italian National Soccer Team, and he loved to play bacci ball. He was the beloved husband of Rosa Romano Chirichella, devoted father of: Jacqueline Chirichella, Maria Nappi and her husband Alex, Vito Chirichella and his wife Stephanie, cherished grandfather of Alex, Andrew, Julia, and Nicholas, and dear brother of Anna Pasquale (Donato), Concetta Chirichella, the late Francesco Chirichella, and sister in law: Rosa Chirichella.
Giuseppe's Life Celebration will be 4:00-8:00PM Tuesday December 20th, at Gray Funeral Directors, 12 Springfield Ave., Cranford. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30AM Wednesday December 21, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Cranford. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
