Esteban Eliodoy Puebla: June 8, 1918 - November 16, 2016
Dr. Esteban Eliodoy Puebla passed away November 16, 2016, at age 98. Born in Bayamo, Cuba, Dr. Puebla was a longtime resident of Havana, Cuba until he came to the US and moved to Linden, NJ. He graduated from the University of Havana with a degree in Diplomatic and Consular Law. He began his working life in Cuba in the Printing Press R. Queralt. After attaining his law degree, he worked at the Ministry of Hacienda (Treasury Department, Statistics Division). He later went on to work at the Ministry of Justice (Justice Department) and was the first sitting Director of the "Palace of Marriages" in El Prado, Havana, Cuba. After coming to the US, Dr. Puebla became a member of the "Havana Bar Association in Exile" in Miami, Florida.
Esteban Eliodoy Puebla is predeceased by two sisters, Juana and Rosita. He leaves behind four children: Cary Puebla-Dubin and husband Ben, of Cranford, NJ; Graciela Puebla and husband Jose Mallon of Queens, NY; Esteban Puebla and wife Lillebit of Havana, Cuba; and Jacqueline Puebla of Miami, FL. He is also survived by his four beloved grandchildren, Veronica Sanchez-Rico and husband Myron of Clark, NJ; Maxwell Puebla Dubin and wife Cynthia of Millburn, NJ; Kyle Puebla Dubin of Cranford, NJ; and Mila Puebla of Havana, Cuba; three great grandchildren, Jonathan, Jaelynn and Justin Rico of Clark; and two sisters, Selma of Elizabeth, NJ and Pastora of Havana, Cuba. He also leaves behind a large extended family of nephews and nieces and countless friends from "El Aguila".
We all celebrate a life well lived and end with his favorite saying "No matter how high the mountain, I continue to climb it".
