Elizabeth Montag age 86 passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at her home in Westfield. She was born in Stanford, Connecticut and resided in Cranford for several years before moving to Westfield in 1960.
She first worked for the Newark Library and then worked for Esso and Ortho for many years. She later worked as an executive secretary for Merck for 37 years. She retired at age 71.
She was a member of the Westfield Music Club, Cranford Historical Society, Westfield Historical Society, Geneological Society of Westfield, Mountainside Seniors and also a member of the AARPs Westfield Chapter in which she ran many of their trips for the last 10 years.
At the age of 82 she travelled to China with the Pearl Buck Society.
Her husband, John Richard Montag is deceased.
She is survived by her son, Richard, two daughters; Nancy Montag and Marianne and her husband Scott Stanley. She will also be deeply missed by his four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2006 in the First Presbyterian Church of Cranford located on the corners of Springfield and North Union Avenues at 11 am.
