Edward Hrycenko

July 7, 1926 — March 20, 2017

Edward Hrycenko, 90, of Linden and Seaside Heights, NJ, passed to eternal life at home on Monday, March 20, 2017. He will always be remembered for his love of gardening and bowling. He was a master at the barbecue grill and enjoyed providing Sunday breakfast after church to his extended family. Ed was a proud Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a past president of the Ukrainian National Home in Elizabeth and an avid member of the Elizabeth Lanes Bowling League. Ed was a lifelong member of IBEW 675 and worked on many electrical projects throughout the state. He was also a member of the Men's Club of Linden, AARP1894, and the American Legion Post 0328.
Ed is predeceased by his first wife, Mary Coughlin (1984) and son-in-law, Steve Patricco (2013). He is survived by his second wife, Ann Gregory, his four children, Walter (Loretto), Mary Ellen Patricco, Edward, and Anna Marie (Jeffrey) Tobie, and two stepchildren, Judy (Jeffrey) Enders and Deborah (Joseph) Ross. Ed enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren, Mary (Christopher), Christopher, Michael, Stephen, Melissa, Kevin, and Kate, two step grandchildren, Jenna (Eric) and Abby, and one step great grandchild, Joaquin.
Visitation and life celebration will be on Thursday, March 23, from 4-8 pm at the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Ave, Cranford, NJ. You ma go to grayfuneralhomes.com for on line condolences. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, at 10:30 am at St. James Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the NJ Veterans Network, 3 Bond Dr, Union, NJ 07083.
