Edith L. Gallagher (Giesler), 85 of Seaside Park, NJ passed away on June 30, 2018 at home
surrounded by her loving family.
Edith was born in Elizabeth, NJ and raised in Roselle, NJ where she graduated from Abraham
Clark High School in 1951. She lived in Roselle where she raised her family until 1983 when
she moved to Cranford, NJ. She retired with her husband Edward full-time to their summer
home in Seaside Park in 2004.
Edith worked as a secretary at Harrison Avenue School in Roselle, NJ. After her daughter Amy
was born, Edith devoted herself to her family and home. She loved the beach and spent many
happy times there with friends and her large extended family. She was known for her beautiful
smile, her quiet strength and her kind and gentle spirit.
Edith leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years Edward, her daughter Amy L. Eberling of
Cranford and son Thomas E. Gallagher (Joanne) of Colonia. She is also survived by her
grandchildren, Corinne Ardente (Brian), Lauren Eberling, Michael Gallagher, Lauren Wojcik
(Kevin) and Alison Miller; her sisters Anne Chappell of Basking Ridge, Jean Knight (Michael) of
Basking Ridge, and sister-in-law Mary Giesler of Chatham as well as many loving nieces,
nephews and devoted friends. She was predeceased by her parents Leo and Astrid Giesler
(Ludwigsen), her brother Raymond L. Giesler, sisters Ellen Venditto and Elizabeth McConnell,
and her son-in-law Dean P. Eberling.
Edith's visitation will be held at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, NJ from
4-8pm on Monday, July 9th, 2018. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30am on Tuesday July 10, 2018
at St.Michael's Church, 40 Alden Street, Cranford, NJ. Interment will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery,
Colonia, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation,
