Earl G. Gillman, 84, of Mountainside, NJ, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at home. Interment took place in Fairview Cemetery. The Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2 pm at the Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside. Arrangements by Gray's of Westfield. Earl was born in Stonehurst, Pennsylvania, later moving to Haverill, Massachusetts and graduating from Haverill High School. He earned a Bachelor's in organic chemistry from Florida Southern College, a Master's Degree in organic chemistry from the University of Florida and a second Master's in Information Science from Drexel University. He started his career as a chemist for Allied Chemical in Virginia. His next positions were at Mobil as a literature chemist in New Jersey and in New York as a Technical Assistant in the Air and Water Conservation Group. He next worked for American Cyanamid as Coordinator of Regulatory Compliance. He then moved into insurance planning working for Equitable/AXA as a financial consultant until his retirement. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a Freemason of the Scottish Rite and served as Worshipful Master of the Mantua Lodge #95, as well as a High Priest of Joshua Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons of Glassboro, NJ. He is survived by his wife Alice of 49 years, two daughters, and one son; Anne Beth Deuchar with husband Eric, Elaine Robin Edwards with husband Dave, and Thomas. He was also the proud grandfather of three; Melissa, Thomas James, and Kiah. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside, NJ.
