Duane F. Mac Menamie, age 59, died with his loving wife at his side at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City on July 30, 2015 after a two-year struggle with primary myeloid fibrosis. His illness was attributed to his efforts supporting rescue and recovery at ground zero, September 11, 2001. Duane was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Ash Brook Golf Association. Duane was a loving, devoted husband to Linda for 28 years.
Duane was born on January 1, 1956 to the late Robert MacMenamie and Agnes Farraye MacMenamie in Brooklyn, NY. He recently retired from NY City Transit Authority, where he represented the rank and file.
Duane is survived by his wife: Linda A. Santoro Mac Menamie, his siblings Carol Lee Murray (deceased), Robert C Mac Menamie, Michael J Mac Menamie, and Donna Mac Menamie Large; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
A Life Celebration gathering will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford. A Funeral Mass will be 9:30 am Friday August 7, 2015 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, and burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown, NJ.
