Donald B. Siano, 74, of Westfield, was stricken and died suddenly April 1, 2017 while traveling in Virginia.
He was born in Sewickley, PA June 30, 1942 and was a 30 year Westfield
resident. He was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Siano and his
father Stephen Siano. He grew up in Ohio and on August 19,1972
married Elizabeth Moore Siano. He received his undergraduate degree
in math and physics from Kent State University and his PH.D in
Biophysics from Iowa State University. He was employed as a research
scientist at Exxon Research and Engineering in Linden and Clinton, NJ.
Passionate about his family, he was an avid non-fiction reader who also
wrote about science and the history of western civilization. He authored more than 30 scientific papers, in addition to 11 patents registered in his name. Don loved his cabin by the pond in the Catskills.
He is survived by his spouse, Elizabeth Siano, his son Julian Siano, (wife
Mallorie), and granddaughters Pauline and Margot Siano. He is also
survived by his brother and six sisters and their families of
Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Don's Life Celebration and visitation will begin at 1:00PM Saturday April 8, 2017, at Gray Funeral Directors, 318 E. Broad St. Westfield, where his Service of Remembrance will begin at 2:30PM Saturday. Interment will be private. A reception will follow at the Siano residence.
