Daniel Louis Schroeck, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, at age 65, passed away at Care One Rehabilitation Center in Livingston, NJ on Sunday, June 20, 2016.
Dan, born in Newark, lived the younger half of his life in Belleville, NJ before buying a home and moving his family to Cranford, NJ in 1983. He worked as a Printer at the Newark Star-Ledger for 43 years before retiring in 2014. Aside from being a hard worker and devout family man, Dan will be remembered mostly for his sense of humor, as he was quick with a joke or tease and could do so in any situation. If his jokes didn't get you, his infectious smile would.
Dan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Zeck) Schroeck, son Jason R. Schroeck, daughter Kelly Centeno (Husband Marcelino Centeno), grandchildren Jason D. Schroeck, Kyle Schroeck, Christopher Centeno and Olivia Centeno. Brother Joseph Schroeck and sister Dolores Lamana.
A viewing and life celebration will be held Thursday from 4pm to 8pm and a memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m, both being held at Gray Memorial Funeral Home located at 12 Springfield Avenue in Cranford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Diabetes Association. Cremation will be private. You may go to grayfuneralhomes.com for on line condolences.
