CHARLES D. (BUD) PULIS, JR.

Charles D. Pulis, Jr., affectionately known as "Bud," of Springfield, New Jersey died peacefully on November 11, 2017 at the age of 85. The son of Lillian and Charles D. Pulis, of Westfield, Bud was born May 9, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY; and came to Westfield following his birth. He attended Westfield schools, graduated from the Taft School, in Watertown, CT, followed by Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, where he obtained his B.S. degree, Class of 1955. Bud graduated from Naval Officers' Candidate School in 1956, and was commissioned Lt.JG, Executive Officer and Navigator on Minesweepers. He was honorably discharged in 1959.
In 1961, Bud married his beloved wife, the former Barbara Conlin, and together they enjoyed many wonderful years in Springfield, N.J. Bud was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Westfield, baptized and married at St. Paul's and served as an usher for 55 years; Chairman of the Stewardship, Finance, and Search Committees, and the Memorial Endowment Trust. He served on the Vestry, and as Senior Warden.
Bud grew up with his family on Halsey Island, Lake Hopatcong, and later, his wife, Bobby, and he spent their summers on Raccoon Island, Lake Hopatcong, where he was a lifelong member of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, an avid sailor, a member of the E-Scow Fleet, and was currently serving as Past Commodore.
His business experience included Commercial Banking , Investment Banking, Insurance Executive and Insurance sales. American College of Insurance Designations include, CLU, ChFC and FLMI.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara C. Pulis; his dear sister, Mrs. F. Robert Michael of Princeton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bud Pulis was a kind, gentle, and true friend. He will be missed.

Visitation will be at Gray Funeral Home 318 E. Broad St, Westfield, on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 414 E. Broad Street, Westfield, NJ on Friday, November 17 at 10 a.m., with the burial following at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Charles D. Pulis, Jr. to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Westfield, the Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation, Mountainside, or the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club Foundation.
