Catherine Cathy Downer

Catherine Downer, 62, of Westfield, died Sunday October 19, 2014, at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, the place where she born on August 12, 1952. The Downer family were early pioneers in the settling of Westfield, NJ. Cathy was the Membership Director of IEEE, a worldwide professional technology association, based in Piscataway, NJ. A lifelong resident of Westfield, she attended Westfield public schools, graduating from Westfield High School, and later Kean University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. She was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Virginia Rogers Downer, and dear sister of the late Peggy Downer. Cathy is survived by her loving daughter: Emma Lee Downer, and her brother: Robert A. Downer. Cathy's Life Celebration will be Friday October 24th, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Gray Funeral Directors, 318 E. Broad Street, Westfield, where her funeral service will begin at 10AM Saturday October 25, 2014. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
