Barbara Mignon Doane

August 21, 1932 — July 26, 2015

Barbara Mignon Doane, 82, of Basking Ridge and Beachwood, New Jersey, died on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Fellowship Village.



Miss Doane was born in Cranford, New Jersey and lived in Westfield until her move to Basking Ridge, New Jersey in 2006.



A graduate of Westfield High School, Class of 1950, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine in 1954 and her Master of Arts Degree from Montclair State College in 1965.



In 1958, Miss Doane joined the staff at Middletown Township High School, teaching Civics and Latin American History. In September, 1960, Miss Doane joined the staff of Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School, where she taught Social Studies until her retirement in 1990.



In her retirement, Miss Doane worked with the TOPS program at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, NJ and continued her world travels.



Miss Doane was a lifetime member of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, N.J. She was also a member of the Women's Club of Westfield, Beachwood Yacht Club, a docent at the Miller-Cory Museum, and an honored member of the Doane Family Association of America.



Predeceased by her parents, Robert Van Norden Doane and Mignon Embree Doane, Miss Doane is survived by cousins Colin Doane, Alan Embree, and Diane Buckley.



Interment was at Fairview Cemetery.



A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, NJ, on August 26, 2015 at 1:00 P.M.



Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield, New Jersey.
