Arvind Gordhanbhai Patel, 81, of Roselle Park, NJ, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth, NJ.
Arvind was born on June 24, 1938 to Suragban and Gordhanbhai Patel in Malala, Uganda. He met the love of his life, Purnima Patel, and married her on October 30, 1965. Arvind will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Purnima, his two sons, Kumar and Shetal, daughter-in-law, Kathleen, and his grandson, Samuel.
Arvind lived on four continents over his lifetime; Asia, Africa, Europe and finally made his home in the United States where he lived for over 40 years, establishing businesses and raising his family.
Arvind was an entrepreneur and businessman who owned and operated several successful businesses, among them Puff and Stuff in Cranford, NJ and Friendly Stationary in Roselle, NJ. He worked many long hours to provide for his family and create a loving home.
However, Arvind's greatest passion and achievement in life was his role as a husband, father and family man. Everything he did in life was to create a good future for his family. He loved his two sons and was very proud of their many achievements and successes in life.
All who knew Arvind remember him as a man who was full of joy, would tell jokes and laugh out loud when his sons would make fun of each other and enjoyed the American dream. Arvind was a humble man who put the needs of his family and others above his own and he was always generous with his time and willing to help those in need. His favorite pastime was to eatâ¦and eat and eat some more! His wife Purnima's homemade Indian food was his favorite, and he would start his day asking "what's for dinner?" He also loved to make Chai (Indian Tea) for his friends and family and proclaimed his masala chai making skills were the best in the world!
Arvind was married to the love of his life, Purnima, for 54 years, loving and serving her selflessly. He was also a man of quiet but deep faith in Jesus Christ and will now spend eternity with him and smiling down on all he loved.
