Arthur Edward Ahrens, Jr., 69, of Cranford. Passed away on November 21, 2017 at the Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains. Arrangements by Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford. Following a private memorial service, internment at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. Polio survivor. Graduate of Roselle Catholic High School and Montclair State College. After employment in business as a Senior Premium Auditor for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company and a Senior Systems Analyst for Continental Insurance Company, he pursued a career in secondary education, teaching social studies at Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair and Ramsey High School. Before retirement he worked in the computer lab at Summit High School. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur Edward Ahrens and Eleanor Hampton Ahrens. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Allison; his sister-in-law, Barbara Meyer of Middletown; his brother-in-law, Carl Kurt Meyer of Middletown; his nephews, Philip R. Meyer of Marlton and Andrew S. Meyer of Milford; four great-nephews and 2 great-nieces. Donations to the March of Dimes without whose support he would never have walked again.
