ANNA MARIE OBER
January 22, 1926 to April 19, 2019
Anna Marie Ober (nee Vaccarino) passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19. A long time resident of Westfield, NJ (with intervening residences in Warren, NJ and Fort Myers Fl), Anna was born and raised in Johnston, PA., graduating from Johnstown High School. Following WWII she was courted by and married Navy veteran David E. Ober, to whom she would be married for over fifty years until Dave's death in 1999.
Living briefly following her marriage in Ann Arbor, MI and Milwaukee, WI (where her two children were born) Anna moved with her family to Westfield in 1954, which would be her home for most of her life. Anna was active in the United Methodist Church, the Garden Club and the Women's Club (of which she served as president). She served as administrator for her husband's business, D. Ober Associates, Inc., of Union NJ. An avid golfer, Anna was a member of Suburban Golf Club.
Anna and Dave enjoyed time spent on Sacandaga Lake in Lake Pleasant, New York, Bromley Mountain, Vermont, Point Pleasant, New Jersey and Sanibel Island, Florida where they had many cherished memories with family and friends. Anna and Dave also travelled the world together. Anna resided for about five years at the Fiddlesticks golf community in Fort Myers, Florida until Dave's death, after which she returned to Westfield, where she was able to be active socially and re-connected with many friends.
Anna was devoted to and proud of her family. She is survived by her son David J. Ober and his spouse Joanne of Wayne, NJ, her son James H. Ober and his spouse Ying Ober of Westfield NJ and four grandchildren: Kimberley Butta (Vincent), Jaime Jackett (Stephen) Jonathan Ober, Yifan Shao (Sia) and six great grandchildren: Marcus Butta, Dante Butta, Nicholas Jackett, Violet Jackett, Sawyer Jackett and Audrina Shao. Anna Marie's visitation will be Tuesday April 23rd from 4:00-8:00PM and Wednesday April 24th from 10-11AM at Gray Funeral Home, 318 E.
