Ann Bain Dempster, 85, a retired realtor and homemaker, a long-time resident of Kensington, MD, and Summit, NJ, passed away on February 26, 2011‹her 85th birthday. Mrs. Dempster was was born in Elizabeth, NJ and raised in Roselle Park, NJ. She was daughter of James Alexander Bain and Margaret Wands Bain, originally of Musselburgh and Glasgow, Scotland. She recently moved to Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, MD with her husband of 59 years, William John Dempster, recently deceased. She graduated in 1943 from Roselle Park High School, NJ and attended the Berkeley Secretarial College in New York City before going to work for Standard Oil. While raising her children, Mrs. Dempster worked for the Summit Junior High School, NJ, and Leigh and Schwab Realty in Bethesda, MD. At the time of her death she was a member of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church, Washington D.C. and previously had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Roselle and the Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ. She is survived by her four children, William James Dempster of Bethesda, MD, Janice Dempster Komisor, of Easton, PA, Douglas John Dempster, of Austin, TX, and Andrew Bain Dempster, Kensington, MD. She is grandmother to nine grandchildren: Andrew, Hillary, Alexandra, Ann, Glenn, William, Claire, Mariel, and Cameron. Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 7, at the Gray Funeral Home in Westfield, NJ. The family will greet friends from 10 11 AM, with interment at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield immediately following the funeral service at 11.
