Ann Benz

Ann Nemec Benz passed from this life on Friday evening, August 8, 2014. She was 95 years old. Ann was born in Bellaire, Ohio, one of six children of Vincent and Verona Nemec. She came to New Jersey as a young woman and graduated from nursing school in 1939. She was a nurse at Saint Michael's Hospital in Newark prior to her marriage to Dr. George L. Benz of Newark. They were married over 55 years. Ann is survived by her children: Michael of Virginia; Barbara (Harry) of California; Robert (Nancy) of Cranford, NJ; Veronica Smalec (Joseph) of Manahawkin, NJ and Celia of Virginia. She is also survived by her two granddaughters – Jessica and Laura Smalec and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, William George, and her husband, George. Visitation and life celebration will be Monday evening, August 11th from 7 to 9 pm at Gray Memorial Funeral Home in Cranford, NJ. A service will be held at Gray's on Tuesday, August 12th at 10 am followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. Go to grayfuneralhomes.com for on line condolences.
