Allen V. Aldrich, 77, of Cranford passed away unexpectedly on
December 23, 2019 at home. Born in Hillsborough, NH, he lived in
New Jersey since 1963.
Mr. Aldrich was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea. A
concrete and paving contractor, he began his career with Cardell, Inc.
Keasbey, and was later the co-owner of Al-Lee Contractors, Sayreville,
and the owner and founder of Aldrich Concrete and Paving, Old Bridge.
He was a parishioner of St. Helen's RC Church, Westfield, and was a
longtime member and president of the American Indian Association.
While growing up in New Hampshire, he enjoyed building and racing
race cars. He was a member of VFW Post 335, Cranford, and enjoyed
fishing, gardening and fixing things. He was never without a smile or a
laugh, and will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughters, Diane McCaffrey and
her husband Tom of Spotswood and Maureen Witt and her husband Tom
of Kearny; five grandchildren, TJ, Haylee, Travis, Dominic and Trayton;
one great-granddaughter, Addison; his brother Donald and his wife
Millie and niece Janet; his sister Suzanne and nephews Kevin and Ricky.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday, December 26 at Gray
Funeral Home, Cranford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at
10:15 Friday at St. Helen's Church, Westfield. Interment will follow at
Brig Gen WC Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
