Alfred F. Harter of Mountainside passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 in Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge. He was 82.
Mr. Harter was born in Wuppertal, Germany and came to the United States as a child. He and his family settled in Newark. Since 1965 he has lived in Mountainside.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II.
He was employed by GAF in Linden then Wayne for over thirty years as Vice President of Engineering. He retired in 1983.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society, Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside and also a Mason. He was also the Mountainside representative for the AARP.
His wife Evelyn (Anderson) Harter is deceased. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Harter and his son, Peter Harter.
